Day 1- Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi and meet the SITA representative at the arrival
hall. He would escort you to your hotel and check you in.
In the afternoon proceed on tour of the capital city. In
Old Delhi you will visit RED FORT built by Emperor Shah
Jahan; JAMA MASJID, one of the largest mosque in India,
RAJ GHAT- the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi and SHANTI VAN.
Also visit CHANDNI CHOWK, the solver street of Delhi bustling
with activity. In the New city visit QUTUB MINAR, the tallest
stone tower in India, HUMAYUN’S TOMB built in the Indo Persian
style and a predecessor to Taj Mahal in Agra, INDIA GATE,
(War Memorial Arch), LAKSHMI NARAYAN TEMPLE, Hindu temple.
Also drive past PRESIDENT HOUSE, PARLIAMENT HOUSE, GOVERNMENT
SECRETARIAT BUILDINGS and CONNAUGHT PLACE- the heart of
New Delhi.
Day 2- To Mandawa
A 5 hours drive through colorful countryside this morning
will transfer you to a two hundred and forty year old fortress
that has been converted by the family into a Palace Hotel.
From CASTLE MANDAWA you can take a walking tour of the painted
'HAVELIS' in SHEKHAWATI region belonging to some of the
leading business families of the country. Though they no
longer live here, the local caretakers are happy to show
the visitors around. Enroute you can shop for the colorful
art and crafts of Rajasthan, tied and dyed textiles, metal
handicrafts, carved wooden artifacts and more. You can also
get a unique insight to life in the desert by visiting nearby
villages on camel back.
Day 3- To Bikaner
Drive to BIKANER- once a major trading post between Africa,
West Asia and the Far Eat. The arts prospered receiving
the patronage of a wealthy merchant community. Transfer
from railway station to the hotel for overnight stay. The
city is renowned for the best riding camels in the world.
During your guided tour you will visit CAMEL BREEDING FARMS;
JUNAGARH FORT, a formidable structure encircled by a moat
and has some beautiful palaces within. These palaces, made
in red sandstone and marble, make a picturesque ensemble
of courtyards, balconies, kiosks and windows dotted all
over the structure; LALLGARH PALACE now converted into a
hotel; FORT MUSEUM housing memorabilia of the royal family
etc. Visit the local bazaars for souvenir hunting. Overnight.
Day 4- To Jaisalmer
Today you will travel to JAISALMER, the rich and beautiful
palaces here shimmer against the relentless monotony of
the Thar desert. Its rulers were known for their valour,
their beautiful havelis and glorious temples. For close
to ten centuries Jaisalmer has assumed the air of a virtual
art museum. Visit SAM SAND DUNES in the evening for a spectacular
sunset and also enjoy a camel ride.
Day 5- In Jaisalmer
Visit SONAR KILA, or the Fort housing a fourth of city’s
residents. Built in 1156 AD, it has 99 bastions around its
circumference. Within it are many beautiful havelis and
a group of five Jain temples built between the 12th and
15th centuries. PATWON KI HAVELI is one of the most exquisite
havelis with a beautifully latticed façade. SALIOM SINGH
KI HAVELI is just three centuries old, and is still lived
in. Its arched roof is held up by well executed brackets
in the form of peacocks, NATHMALJI KI HAVELI built by two
architect brothers; GYAN BHANDAR with a wealth of historical
treasures; GARHSISAR having a small tank surrounded by shrines
etc.
Day 6- To Jodhpur
Drive five hours to JODHPUR, built by Rao Jodha of the Rajput
clan in 1459. The imperial city echoes with tales of antiquity
in the emptiness of the desert. Visit the 5 km long majestic
MEHRANGARH FORT on 125 m high hill, one of the most impressive
and formidable structures. Although invincible from the
outside, the fort has four gates approached by a winding
road. Within the fort are some magnificent palaces with
marvelously carved panels and latticed windows. Also visit
JASWANT THADA, a memorial built in pure white marble for
the exclusive use of the royal family, as a crematorium.
Visit UMAID BHAWAN in rose colored sandstone, MANDORE GARDENS,
once the old capital of Marwar etc.
Day 7- To Udaipur
This morning drive to the city of Lakes, UDAIPUR in the
colorful Rajasthan. Enroute stop at the famous Jain temples
at RANAKPUR. Udaipur is described as the “City of Sunrise”.
The city stands in a valley amid green hills on the banks
of the Lake Pichola. Rest of the day enjoy the views from
your hotel and admire the beauty of the city. You may take
a walking tour on your own through the narrow lanes and
back streets of Udaipur up to the Washing Ghats at the lake
Pichola. Return to your hotel in the evening or visit one
of the fine downtown restaurants for an optional dinner.
Day 8- In Udaipur
Drive around the FATEHSAGAR LAKE, built by Maharana Fateh
Singh in 1754 A.D. Visit the JAGDISH TEMPLE, the largest
and most venerated temple of Udaipur. Built in 1651 A.D.
by Maharana Jagat Singh I, the temple is decorated with
friezes. Visit the “Garden of Maidens” SAHELION-KI-BARI”,
consisting of an ornamental pool with delicately carved
chhatries of black and white marble and soft stone. Also
visit the Maharana’s CITY PALACE, an imposing edifice of
granite and marble. Later in the day enjoy a two-hour boat-ride
on LAKE PICHOLA visiting many Ghats (banks) of washing,
bathing etc and enjoy excellent views of the Lake Palace
and City Palace.
Day 9- To Pushkar
Drive to PUSHKAR, which since time immemorial has been one
of the most hallowed holy spots for the Hindus. Pushkar
Lake believed by the Hindus to be as old as creation, has
been a place of pilgrimage through the centuries. There
are 52 bathing GHATS built around the lake. The water around
each Ghat is supposed to have special powers. Devotees come
to take a holy dip in the lake. Stay for two nights in tented
camps and partake in various games and festivities at the
fair.
Day 10- In Pushkar
Full day is free to explore the colorful PUSHKAR bustling
with activity during the Fair. Enjoy a camel ride, indulge
in tug-of-war competition, see Rajasthani folk men trade
camels & cattle, witness local wrestling match. The
artisans, ropewalkers, musicians, dancers, acrobats, snake
charmers and other entertainers will be busy round-the-clock
and the place comes alive.
Day 11- To Jaipur
Drive 3hours, 148kms to JAIPUR- Rajasthan’s capital city.
Arrive and check in at your hotel. In the afternoon you
will be taken on a guided tour of the city. You will visit
to the quaint OBSERVATORY; Maharaja’s CITY PALACE, the former
royal residence and now a museum containing rare manuscripts,
fine specimens of Rajput and Mughal paintings and weapons.
Drive through the pink-rose residential and business areas,
past the HAWA MAHAL or Palace of Winds, the landmark of
Jaipur. Continue your drive to Jaipur and arrive late in
the afternoon. There are many dinner options available to
dine in one of the finest Palace hotels that Jaipur boasts
of.
Day 12- In Jaipur
After breakfast drive to AMBER FORT, the ancient capital
of the State until 1728. Visit the Temple of Kali, the Hall
of Victory or Jai Mahal and Jagmandir. You can have the
unique experience of traveling on elephant back to and from
the top of the hill on which the fort is situated. The remaining
day is at your disposal to independently explore the crowded
and colorful lanes of the pink city’s bazaars.
Day 13- To Agra
Leave early for AGRA, the city known for romantic TAJ MAHAL.
. Stop 56kms before Agra at BHARATPUR BIRD SANCTUARY where
you can enjoy a cycle rickshaw or a bicycle ride to see
birds in their natural habitat. Another short drive of 18kms
will bring you to FATEHPUR SIKRI. Built by Emperor Akbar,
this impressive fortified city was a new capital that was
hardly ever inhabited on account of shortage of water. Even
today it stands magnificent – with majestic palaces, the
five –tiered Panch Mahal, and the tomb of Salim Chisthi,
a saint who had predicted the birth of Akbar’s son. Continue
your drive to Agra and arrive late in the afternoon. If
time permits in the evening pay a visit to TAJ MAHAL and
ride a cycle rickshaw to the monument. Spend time gazing
at one of the Seven Wonders of the World and return in the
evening to your hotel before dinner
Day 14- To Delhi
Morning tour the city visiting the world famous TAJ MAHAL
built by the Moghul Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his queen
Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. Later enjoy
touring other monuments in Agra like AGRA FORT, a blend
of architectural styles used during the reign of three emperors,
and SIKANDRA - Akbar’s mausoleum on the way to Delhi. Later
drive to Delhi and on arrival directly at the International
airport to connect your onward flight. End of our services.
